Competitors

Given Khan Industries' powerful influence over the city of
Cape Suzette as well as much of the civilized world, serious
competition is slim indeed. Smaller independent companies
simply cannot match, let alone exceed, the sheer volume of
goods and services Khan Industries provides. In turn, Shere
Khan prefers not to bother dealing with ineffectual private
businesses, unless careful meddling in the private sector
would work to the corporation's advantage.
Nevertheless, enterprising firms in Cape Suzette have discovered
ways to undercut the Khan corporation, particularly in cargo
shipping and overseas deliveries. Many small air shipping
companies such as "Higher for Hire" Air Cargo
Service have made considerable nuisances of themselves
by offering faster delivery at lower, more reasonable rates
than their monolithic competitor. However, Shere Khan considers
his corporation far too important to pay attention to the
likes of small businesses. Moreover, as Khan Industries controls
much larger shipping fleets and vital resources such as fuel
and electricity, it is capable of out-performing all but the
most ambitious (and stubborn) entrepreneurs.
The only true challenge posed to Khan is the Miniversal Corporation,
second only to Khan Industries in scale and profits. Managed
by chairman and CEO Mr. Sultan a longtime business
rival of Shere Khan Miniversal fiercely competes with
Khan Industries in many areas, chiefly aerospace development
and electronics. While Khan Industries may officially deny
that the Miniversal Corporation intimidates them in any way,
reduced profit last quarter has forced Khan Industries to
step up production of its revolutionary top-secret flying
project. This move will prevent Miniversal from gaining an
advantageous financial edge in what has so far been a close
battle between these two corporate giants..
